Terms of Service

Effective date: September 29, 2026

These terms are an agreement between you and Lightshift Health, Co. (“Lightshift Health,” “we,” “us”) about your use of Ami, including our website at amihealth.app, the Ami web app at secure.amihealth.app, and Ami by iMessage or WhatsApp (together, “Ami”). We have tried to keep them plain. Please read them, along with our Privacy Policy.

1. Agreeing to these terms

By using Ami, you agree to these terms. If you do not agree, please do not use Ami.

2. Who can use Ami

You must be at least 18 years old, live in the United States, and be able to enter into a binding contract. Ami is currently offered by invitation, and we may decide who can use it while it is in early access. You may use Ami only for yourself, or for someone else only where you have the legal authority described in section 6.

3. What Ami does

Ami is a personal health assistant. With your permission, it gathers your health records from the sources you connect, such as your Gmail, Google Drive, and patient and insurer portals, organizes them into your Health Vault, answers questions about them, and helps with the admin around your care, for example by drafting a request for your medical records for you to send. Ami is new and changing quickly. Features may be added, changed, or removed, and Ami may not always be available.

4. Ami is not medical care

Ami is not a doctor, nurse, pharmacist, or other health care provider, and it does not provide medical advice, diagnosis, or treatment. Information from Ami is for your general information and organization only. Always ask your clinicians about your health, and never ignore or delay professional medical advice because of something Ami said.

Ami is not for emergencies. If you think you may have a medical emergency, call 911 or go to the nearest emergency room. If you are thinking about suicide or self-harm, call or text 988.

Ami does not create a doctor-patient relationship with anyone, and using Ami does not make Lightshift Health your health care provider or health plan.

5. Your account

Your Ami account is tied to the phone number or messaging account you use to talk to Ami. You sign in to the web app with one-time codes Ami sends you. Keep your phone and messaging accounts secure, do not share sign-in codes or links, and tell us right away at support@amihealth.app if you think someone else has accessed your account. You are responsible for activity in your account that results from you sharing access or failing to protect your devices.

Give us accurate information and keep it up to date.

6. Acting on your behalf

Your authorization. When you save a login for a patient portal, insurer, pharmacy, or other website, or connect an account like Gmail or Google Drive, you authorize Ami to access that account as your agent, to sign in, view, and download your records and related information, and to bring them into your Health Vault. This permission continues until you remove the login or disconnect the account. With your authorization, we may also request your records from health information networks and patient-access programs in the future.

Your promises. For every account you connect or login you save, you promise that the account is yours, or that you have the legal right to access it and to let Ami access it for you (for example, as a legal guardian, a health care proxy, or under a power of attorney), and that you are allowed to share its login with us.

Other sites' rules. Some websites have their own terms about how their accounts may be used. You are responsible for your relationship with those sites. A site may block, limit, or ask you to confirm access by an assistant like Ami, and if it does, Ami may stop and ask you what to do. Ami does not get around security checks: it passes sign-in codes and human checks to you.

Your approval. Ami asks for your approval before sensitive actions. When Ami drafts a letter, such as a medical records request, you are responsible for reviewing it, making sure it is accurate, and signing and sending it yourself. Ami does not send letters for you.

7. Your responsibilities

When you use Ami, you agree not to:

  • use Ami to access any account or information you are not entitled to;
  • give Ami false information, or impersonate anyone;
  • use Ami for anything illegal, harmful, or fraudulent;
  • interfere with Ami, get around its security or limits, or try to access other people's data;
  • copy, scrape, reverse engineer, or resell Ami, or use it to build a competing product; or
  • use Ami to harass or harm anyone, including the providers and offices you contact.

8. Your information

Your records, messages, and other information you bring to Ami belong to you. You give us permission to use them only as needed to run Ami for you, as described in our Privacy Policy, and you can take that permission back by removing the information or deleting your account. We do not sell your information or use your health information for advertising.

If you send us feedback or suggestions, we may use them to improve Ami without owing you anything.

9. AI can make mistakes

Ami uses artificial intelligence. It can misread a document, miss something, mix up details, or say something that sounds right but is wrong. Ami shows you where its information came from so you can check it. Always check anything important, such as medications, dosages, test results, dates, and coverage, against the original record or with your clinician or insurer before you rely on it.

10. Other services

Ami works with services run by others, such as Google, patient and insurer portals, Apple iMessage, and WhatsApp. Those services are governed by their own terms and privacy policies, and we are not responsible for them, including when they are unavailable, change, or contain wrong information.

11. Messages from Ami

By messaging Ami, you agree to receive messages from Ami in that conversation, including replies, updates about tasks you asked for, and sign-in codes. Your carrier or messaging app's usual rates may apply. To stop receiving messages, email us at support@amihealth.app or delete your account.

12. Fees

Ami is currently free during early access. If we introduce paid features, we will tell you the price and terms before you are charged, and you can choose whether to pay.

13. Our property

Ami, including its software, design, name, and logos, belongs to Lightshift Health. We give you a personal, non-transferable right to use Ami under these terms. We keep all other rights.

14. Ending your use

You can stop using Ami and delete your account at any time (see our Privacy Policy). We may suspend or end your access if you break these terms, if your use creates risk for others or for us, if the law requires it, or if we stop offering Ami. When possible, we will tell you first. If we stop offering Ami, we will give you reasonable notice so you can get a copy of your information.

Sections 4 and 8 through 21 continue to apply after your use ends, as does anything else that by its nature should.

15. Disclaimers

Ami is provided “as is” and “as available.” To the fullest extent the law allows, we disclaim all warranties, express or implied, including warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, accuracy, and non-infringement. We do not promise that Ami will be uninterrupted, error-free, or secure, that it will find all of your records, or that any provider, insurer, or site will respond to a request.

Some states do not allow these disclaimers, so some may not apply to you.

16. Limitation of liability

To the fullest extent the law allows, Lightshift Health and its officers, employees, and service providers will not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, or for lost profits, data, or goodwill, arising from your use of Ami. Our total liability for any claim about Ami is limited to the greater of the amount you paid us for Ami in the 12 months before the claim or $100.

These limits do not apply where the law does not allow them, including for our gross negligence, willful misconduct, or fraud.

17. Indemnity

If a third party brings a claim against us because you broke these terms, broke the law, or accessed an account you were not entitled to access, you agree to cover our reasonable costs of that claim, including reasonable legal fees, to the extent the claim is caused by you.

18. Governing law and disputes

These terms are governed by the laws of the State of New York, without regard to its conflict-of-law rules, except where the law of the state you live in requires otherwise.

If you have a problem with Ami, please email us first at support@amihealth.app. Most issues can be fixed quickly, and we will try in good faith to resolve yours within 60 days. If we cannot, either of us may bring a claim in small claims court, if it qualifies, or in the state and federal courts located in New York County, New York, and we both consent to those courts' jurisdiction. Nothing in these terms limits rights you have under consumer-protection laws that cannot be waived.

19. Changes to these terms

We may update these terms as Ami changes. We will post the new version here with a new effective date. If a change is material, we will tell you in advance by message or email. If you keep using Ami after the change takes effect, you accept the new terms; if you do not agree, you can stop using Ami and delete your account.

20. General

These terms and our Privacy Policy are the whole agreement between you and us about Ami. If part of these terms cannot be enforced, the rest still applies. If we do not enforce a part right away, we have not given it up. You may not transfer these terms to anyone else; we may transfer them as part of a merger, acquisition, or sale of assets. Neither of us is responsible for delays caused by events outside our reasonable control.
